Guru. Such a little word, yet such a big meaning. Common translations break this Sanskrit word guru down into gu, meaning “darkness”, & ru, meaning “light that dispels it.” Thus the guru can be thought of as one who dispels the darkness of ignorance. Gurus are teachers, mentors, advisors, counselors, experts & experienced. More than that - they are those who have realized their potential & recognize it in others. Guru also relates to the word gur, which means “to raise, lift up, make an effort.”

My Practice Guru was born of the idea that the world is full of untapped providers who have a vision of their own private practice, yet are trapped in the darkness because they don't consider themselves “business people.” It's not their fault - most graduate schools & professional training programs create curriculums about how to care for clients, leaving little-to-no room for practical business & brand management skills. Or maybe someone got that training, but it's just not part of their passion. In either case, MPG exists to be the business partner for non-business people who still want their own business.

We don't believe you have to be a “business person” to be a successful business owner. But you do need a solid business partner. One who has been through the messy process of launching a private practice that has grown & continues to thrive. One who understands what drives you, what frustrates you, what keeps you up at night & what gets you out of bed excited enough to keep pursuing your dreams. That's who we are. Been there. Done that. Still doing it.
